En esta investigación sin precedentes sobre los autores del genocidio, “ Un Acto Vergonzoso: el genocidio armenio y la cuestión de la responsabilidad de Turquía” ( Editorial Colihue), el historiador turco Taner Akçam hace un único e innovador uso de los archivos turcos, europeos, y norteamericanos para contar de una vez por todas la historia completa de lo que los turcos otomanos hicieron de forma planificada y organizada para la eliminación del pueblo armenio.
Uno de los pocos historiadores turcos en reconocer el genocidio y el primer investigados en descubrir evidencia significativa, Akçam sigue la cadena de acontecimientos que condujeron a los asesinatos y reconstruye su orquestación sistemática por parte de funcionarios gubernamentales, funcionarios públicos, mercenarios (patotas), las milicias estatales y el ejército Turco. Reconstruyendo la historia mediante una investigación meticulosa y el análisis de documentos inéditos, Akçam también investiga los esfuerzos de la posguerra para a llevar a los culpables ante la justicia y articula por qué razón fracasaron

Voters and juries from 14 countries have made up their mind and it's Vladimir Arzumanyan from Armenia to win the 8th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest! Congratulations!!

Tonight, the show opened with Ksenia Sitnik (winner of the 2005 contest) and Alexey Zhigalkovich (winner in 2007) and Alexander Rybak (winner of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest).

But most of all, it featured the 14 young stars representing their countries, making them the real stars of this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest!

After a very exciting voting it was Vladimir Arzumanyan from Armenia to win the 8th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, broadcast from the capital of Belarus - Minsk, by just one point!

Tamzara Թամզարա

Tamzara ԹԱՄԶԱՐԱ (Tamuz-Ara) was a line dance, extending from Kayseri in the west to Sevan in the east to Trebizond in the North to Van in the south. In Kharpet and Arabkir, the dance was a couple/trio dance.
This Tamzara is a line dance from Western Erzerum near Yerzinga, Historical Armenia. The variance to this dance is when the music changes, the Bar Bashi (dance leader) calls for the line to take four steps to the left, twice.
I would like to dedicate this Tamzara in Loving Memory of Baron Arsen Anooshian, last director of the Armenian Folk Dance Society of New York, and my dance instructor. Baron Arsen preserved dances from Historical Armenia in its original form, no modification and no choreography. The Armenian Folk Dance Society performed at the 1939 and 1964 World's Fair in New York. Tamzara was one of the Societies favorite dance.

In the city of Adana during the darkest days of the Ottoman Empire, there began a tragedy that marked the start of what was to become known as the Armenian Genocide. The people of Armenia were forced into starvation, torture and extermination. Armenian homes were burned to the ground as women were raped and tortured, children were bought and sold and men were killed before their very eyes. Sometimes entire families were wiped out. They were accused, convicted and sentenced to die because they dared to call themselves "Christians", their crime was in believing in Jesus Christ who died for their sins.

In 1915 1.5 million Armenians were ruthlessly slaughtered, because they would not renounce their faith in Christ. Unpunished and undeterred the ones responsible for the massacre in Adana set stage for the terrible genocide of the Armenian people.
This is their story.

Though persecuted, they were not abandoned as they laid down their earthly lives, they would gain entirety with Christ. Though the world may forget, God would remember their suffering. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, would be their shepherd who would lead them to the springs of living water and God would wipe away every tear for their eyes. They would encircle the throne of God singing to the great I Am, worthy is the Lamp, who and is, and is to come.

Moscú, 9 de julio, RIA Novosti. La Organización de Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO) eligió Ereván como la Capital Mundial del Libro en 2012, según un comunicado publicado en la página web de la entidad. La respectiva decisión fue adoptada por el Comité de Selección de la Capital del Libro 2012 integrado por representantes de las tres principales asociaciones internacionales del sector del libro y la edición, más la UNESCO.

Asimismo, la capital armenia se convierte en la duodécima ciudad nombrada Capital Mundial del Libro, después de Madrid (2001), Alejandría (2002), Nueva Delhi (2003), Amberes (2004), Montreal (2005), Turín (2006), Bogotá (2007), Amsterdam (2008), Beirut (2009), Liubliana (2010) y Buenos Aires (2011).

"Felicito a Ereván, que presentó un proyecto muy interesante que abarca un amplio abanico de temas, incluida la libertad de expresión, así como varias actividades para niños, nuestros lectores y autores de mañana", dijo la directora general de la UNESCO, Irina Bokova.

Bokova añadió que el programa presentado por la capital armenia es "muy detallado, realista y refleja la estructura social de la ciudad".

"Ese programa se recordará durante mucho tiempo", pronosticó la jefa de la UNESCO.

En 2012 Armenia festejará el aniversario 500 del primer volumen impreso. Asimismo, en 1512, el armenio se convirtió en el primer idioma en contar con un libro entre todas las naciones de Asia y de la Comunidad de Estados Independientes.
