Election on 6 May 2010 Voting is ever so critical!

Dear Friends,
Those of you who live in UK please provide a moment to read Mr. Sarkissian's note related to the upcoming elections.

Dear friend,

Could I ask you please to consider my request below as a matter of high priority.
If you don't live in Ealing, you may still consider my request or forward it to your friends and family who reside in Ealing.

You may be aware that the Chief Executive Officer of Ealing Council (a Conservative authority) has opposed to the use of the term Genocide on the plaque for the memorial tree planted in Ealing on 17 April 2010, by the ACCC, to pay homage to the memory of 1,500,000 victims of the Armenian Genocide.

This is not acceptable and the loyal Armenian Community of Ealing can not tolerate such a discriminative approach by the COE of a Conservative Council. Our Local Council should not be allowed to deny our history.

I would like to urge you please to vote Labour this Thursday 06 May 2010.
It is very important to make your voice heard by voting.

Labour candidates promise to officially recognise the Armenian Genocide at Ealing Council and erect a worthy memorial for the Armenian Genocide.

Please vote for Labour candidates.
(Please also refer to attached letter).

With best wishes
Raffi Sarkissian

Dear ……..
Re. Ealing Borough Council Elections 6 May 2010 Vote Labour

We are writing to you to ask for your efforts and support for voting Labour on Thursday 6 May 2010.

You may be aware that on Saturday 17 April, during the ceremony of Tree Planting in Ealing as homage to the memory of 1,500,000 Million victims of the Armenian Genocide, the Chief Executive of Ealing Borough (a Conservative Council), used every possible means including interfering in policing affairs to try and block us from the use of the word Genocide in the memorial plaque and the only and special banner prepared to communicate our message to the public.

This action by the Conservative (chief executive of) Ealing Borough was undemocratic and should not be tolerated by any member of Ealing Community.

In 2005 the Edinburgh City Council, recognised the Armenian Genocide. During the deliberations at the council chamber, the Conservative Councillors were the ones opposing the recognition. Both Labour and Liberal Democrat candidates were in favour of recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

We ask you to vote for Labour candidates for the following reasons:
• A Labour Council will recognise the Armenian Genocide
• A Labour Government will protect our schools
• A Labour Government will defend the local Health Service
• A Labour Council will ensure we have well trained police
• A Labour Council will ensure we have adequate number of Community Support Officers.
Conservatives Will Not.

We therefore invite you and members of your family to vote for Labour candidates on Thursday 6 May 2010.
Similarly, we ask you please to encourage your neighbours and friends to vote for Labour Candidates on Thursday.

This is ever so crucial. It is time for Armenian Community in Ealing to make a difference.

Yours sincerely

Raffi Sarkissian

Campaign for Recognition of the Armenian Genocide
